We hear about it all of the time. We see it on television. We read about it. Men arrested for having sex with underage girls that they met via the internet.
In a recent case, a man in his fifties but pretending to be in his early twenties, met and began an online relationship with a fourteen year old he met online. At first, the girl would perform sex acts for him on video. This led to sexual intercourse.
In another case, a man in his forties met a sixteen year old girl online. They began an online relationship but set up a meeting to have sex. When he arrived, he was greeted by an undercover officer who had been posing as the sixteen year old.
With so many networking sites such as Twitter, Craigslist, Myspace, and Facebook, cases like the two mentioned above are becoming a common occurrence.
Know what your kids are doing on their computers. Make sure that you have the ability to monitor their activities so that you know who they are talking to and what they are talking about.
